When bears attack mountain bikers

This story in today's Seattle Times gives more detail about Anthony Blasioli, the mountain biker who was attacked by a bear in a Washington state park. Before jumping back on his bike and making his escape, Blasioli was badly mauled, losing part of his ear, shoulder, and arm. That makes this advertisment adjacency a tad bit tasteless...

But what we were really thinking is this: Here's one good reason for cycling with a handgun. (As opposed to, y'know, just tooling around the neighborhood.) Perhaps Camelbak will develop a holster accessory. Oh wait, believe they already have.

My preferred holster is ballistic nylon mounted on the right hand side of the head tube. Makes for a quick draw with my shooting hand.
