When is a theft ring a theft ring?

In Aspen, Colorado, one bike is stolen each week-- this week's happened to belong to No. 1 ranked junior mountain biker Jamie Fenn.

Hard to believe no one can find a replacement for his Yeti so he can race this weekend. Are cyclists in Aspen not allowed to rent bikes, or own more than one ride, or to have friends who can loan them their B-bike?

It will really be hard to believe if the methhead that jacked the Yeti gets away with hocking it. You wouldn't think that it would be easy to sell that distinctive a bike without drawing attention.

A pawnshop wouldn't pay on a Yeti, and a bike shop would be able to tell if somebody who doesn't seem like a rider tried to sell them a high-end bike.

Also, bikers look at the bikes that they ride past the same way guys look at girls on the street. There aren't that many Yetis around, at least not where I'm at (MPLS).

It just seems that whether the bike got jacked to sell or to ride, it's just a matter of time before it gets tracked down.
