Dutch dreaming



Americans tend to be literal, while Europeans can be a bit more figurative. For example, if you ask an American what her "dream bike" is, she might say "a vintage Italian road racer" or he might say "A $20,000 custom carbon Parlee."

Ask your average Dutch person, and you'll get... well, see for yourself. Umbrellas, chrome seats, cardboard-box frames.

This weekend it's the Me Bike Dream Bike Festival in Amsterdam. (We're sure it's a much more poetic and profound name in Dutch.)

Here in Portland an awesome little shop just opened up carrying a wide variety of imported dutch bikes and cargo bikes. They've got a whole fleet of bakfeiten!
