Totally harsh: Getting taken down by roadkill

Seen in the morning papers...

See, but that's not exactly the whole story. It turns out the dude was hit by a deer which had itself been hit by a car.

George Ljutich and Cynthia Mooney were pedaling on Washington Crossing Pennington Road when a car traveling in the opposite direction hit the deer Thursday. Police say the impact propelled the animal into their path. Ljutich was thrown from the bike and struck his head on the pavement. Mooney sustained cuts and bruises. Both were wearing helmets.

You know, science has proven that deer that get hit by cars tend to get thrown much closer to helmeted cyclists than deer who get hit by cars thrown toward unhelmeted.... uh. Never mind.

Just so. That would make an awesome sequence for the next edition of Grand Theft Auto.

". . . Mooney sustained cuts and bruises. Both were wearing helmets. . . " does that include the deer?

Freaky. In the park that I do most of my road rides, I've come close to hitting deer a number of times. None were wearing helmets though.
Cheers.

I came thisclose to getting pole-axed by a deer last Saturday night on the Cedar lake trail. The deer wasn't wearing a helmet. (and didn't signal his turn either.)
