This week lots of skinny, earnest white men converged on Washington DC -- as opposed to the generally overweight, disingenuous white men who are already there. Why? For the National Bike Summit, of course. (The Bike Hugger dudes, by contrast, are loading up the van with free shwag and heading to Texas.)
It's a good time to be a bike advocate of course, and some of the discussions and proposals are frankly outrageous. This idea for a national network of bike paths? Such an idea would never be spoken aloud in polite company, if there were a solid majority of rapacious warmongering Republicans in Congress.
