This spot reserved for a superior moral ideal

You've undoubtedly heard that Seattle has passed its Master Bike Plan, and Portland is still hungover from the party thrown on behalf of its cycling scene by the New York Times.

Here's more heartening news from the other coast:

The Washington D.C. city council has passed an ordinance requiring that bike parking be built into all new housing constructions, to the tune of one bike space per three units.

Remember how, in the anti-tobacco crusades of the 90s, Simon & Garfunkel airbrushed the cigarettes off of their album covers? As we speak, filmmakers are busy "installing" bike racks into the parking-ramp scenes of All The President's Men.
