The Evel Knievel of bikes has struck again!

A Chinese cyclist has set a new Guinness World Record for catching maximum air. Yesterday, Wang Huihai jumped 39.30 meters across the Hongqi Canal. The trip took just three seconds in the air, and it looked like this:

Judging from the color of that water, Wang's choice was either to make it to the straw and foam landing pit or have all the flesh eaten away from his bones by toxic industrial waste.

Still, the 39-year-old stunt pilot did not entirely escape injury.

Due to wind resistance, Wang scratched three fingers when he let go of his 28,000-yuan bicycle.

Hmm, that's some kind of wind resistance. We've heard about China's problems with particulate air pollution, but this sounds a bit like getting sand-blasted.

Also, this: What is the Guinness World Record for consumption of Guinness? Just curious.

Did you notice on the linked page that, 1. his bike looked like it had a quick-release hinge, i.e. a folding bike, and 2. it looked like a Dynacrap folding bike?
