When cycling jumps the shark...

It seems to be bicycle day at the New York Times. So, you know... maybe we get the day off a little bit.

  • Angry Freds in French cycling hell!

  • Floyd Landis in American cycling limbo!

  • Carbon fiber in mountain biking heaven!

  • Warning: These links will, like Cinderella's carriage, turn into a pumpkin in seven days. We'll try to provide you with some serious, permanent, investigative bike stories later on today after we catch up with the dayjob.

I looked up "jumps the shark" *last* week when it showed up in Grist. So, how does cycling "jump the shark?"

good point, Sue. Misuse of the term probably. SHould have been "When cycling media jumps the Shark.." idea being htat once the New York Times gloms onto fixies and alleycats, well, time for the hiposters to move on to... well, kiddie trailers or summink like that.

If cyclign itself jumps the shark, I'm signed up until the closing credits of the finale season. if you know what i mean.

Halfway through the NY Times article on climbing the Alps there are references to Bob Breedlove and his former riding partner. His former partner is a good friend of mine from grade school, in fact, I'll see him this weekend. I emailed him the article and told him he's anonymously famous.
