News you can't use

The name "Skip Hess" probably doesn't mean much to you, because you--like me-- be a lowlife cycling dirtbag with no connections to the "industry."

Lookit: Skip was the president of Giant Bicycle.

JULY 16, 2007 -- NEWBURY PARK, CA (BRAIN)--After eight years as president of Giant Bicycle, Skip Hess is leaving the company. His last day will be tomorrow.

His retirement was announced today, effective tomorrow? After leading a major corporation, one would expect, you know, like at least 2 weeks notice wouldn't you? Unless you were either immediately replaceable, or you weren't that busy working on crucial company business. Not that we'd ever asperse a slacker, that's our people!

Anyway, we here at Pinch Flat News suspect this departure has more to do with the precise time of year, and the precise location that the bike industry finds itself in: France, July... A good place to go AWOL, right? Mmmm.... cheese.... wine.... bikes....
