Mind the gap — and bring your clown bike!

In anticipation of Saturday's big event, one of England's largest railroads had announced that it was banning bicycles from its trains. Naturally, a great hue and cry went forth, and Southeastern Railroad modified its ban: They will now allow folding bikes, for fans wishing to bring their own rides along for the Tour Day France opener.

If their lordships wished to prevent another cheating scandal like they had in 1904, they might have gone the simpler route of merely banning carbon-fiber TT bikes from all local lines. Still, the cheaters will be easy to spot this year: Wouldn't you love to see Thor Hushovd in his Credit Agricole kit flogging a Bike Friday?
