Arthur Guinness spins in his grave... heh heh... "spins." Get it?
It's hard to believe that there are still people out in Suburban USA who are attempting this or that bizarre feat to gain entry into the Guinness Book of World Records. Even harder to believe that this fellow is trying to set a new "world record" for riding a stationary bike. (The record is 81 hours at 12 mph. Snore.)“We’re making this quite the production,” Hood said, adding a film crew will use six cameras and his bike will be on a raised platform to make him more visible for filming.
This time Hood will use the same “pit crew” he used in January, led by Preston Bokos, owner of a Westmont bike shop, Urban Tri-Gear. Bokos said the crew’s job is to manage the ride, from keeping him supplied with liquid and changing batteries in clocks and timers to making sure Hood maintains 12 mph at all times, which is a Guinness rule.
Tough work, that: Pit-crewing for a stationary bike ride. But that's the triathlon crowd for you. No sense of style or taste, with literary ambitions that run toward the vulgar.
