Dipping into the public coffers

Copenhagen is off the front, and clearly trying to stay away in the effort to be known as the world capital of bike commuting. The government has earmarked 75 million—uh, Danish Kroner?—to build more bike paths and bike stands and to get another 80,000 drivers onto bikes. A big part of the strategy is to make biking in the city more safe:

The number of accidents in Copenhagen is not high, however, it is still our ambition to half the number of accidents on bicycles, because if you feel safe, you will also feel like riding your bike, he says to Berlingske Tidende.

You know, if Copenhagen was so serious about public health, they'd stop manufacturing that disgusting chewing tobacco everyone seems to like so much.
