ArtCrank: Quick and dirty version. It was all about the customer service

More than 800 fans of cycling + art showed up at the shop on Saturday night, and I was one of them. Since I don't like crowds that much, I found myself volunteering for duty behind the counter, and at one point weaseled into the enviable position of pouring draft beers with Mr. Hurl Everstone on behalf of the Greater Twin Cities Cycling Community.

So everything was running smoothly. How hard can it be to keep a tap running, and keep the head down? Little did I realize that there was one thing in the house even more popular than the free beer -- and that was the highly affordable and gorgeous bike-art prints that were selling like Human Growth Hormone in June.

Seeing as how my skills as beermaid were in such fine form, I was dispatched to help out the women in the swamped art -sales department. I am sorry to report that my cash register skills were a bit rusty and slow. But rest assured, many happy curators of bike art were connected with the best batch of posters yet.

Rumor: A representative from Lance Armstrong's new bike shop in Austin was on hand, and bought two copies of all 35 posters. My personal view? Worth every penny. And whatever you might think of Mellow Johnnie's, the eye candy there is going to be world-class.

Also this: Nicotine is a diuretic!
