When the Doyenne of Duh, Chicago's Mary Schmich, writes about it, you can be sure that a story has more or less jumped the shark. Apropos of last week's discussion of the top Mainstream Media bike memes in the past year...
Doing some quick and lazy research, I see that Velib has been written about 250 times in the past year -- in English-language periodicals -- and 500 times in other languages. That's impressive by dead-tree standards, but it's beggared by the blogosphere buzz: at Google, 1,360,000 hits on the fake French word.
