The Dutch: Is there a country LESS American?

Seen in the morning papers ... in the USA? NEVER!

This article is mostly about Dutch efforts to curb use of the automobile, including such interesting strategies as networked parking meters that charge a parking rate based on the make and model of your car. In other words, you drive a Hummer, Mr. Van Der Pool? Well, that's going to cost you twice the going rate. Nifty idea that
certainly indulges the more rabid impulses of your flaming cycle advocates.

But also, The Dutch are now aware that cycling and cyclists themselves are a tourist attraction worth more investment:

But Amsterdam has not forgotten its numerous cyclists, who are almost as much of a tourist attraction as the 17th-century canal houses. The city is setting aside €70-million for the capital's bicycle riders over the next four years to pay for improving bike lanes, creating more bicycle parking spaces and cracking down on bicycle theft.

Also, the Dutch government will continue to invest in killer weed and quality nude entertainment.

As a citizen of the Twin Cycle Cities, I demand more and more weed and nude entertainment. Then the bike lanes take care of themselves...
