Beer and Bikes: Can science build a true hybrid?
Yesterday, we were coveting this cool new contraption that made its American debut at the US Open. What is it? It's a keg of beer in a backpack, with cooler and CO2 compressor! (Plus the device has got the most awesome name ever: It's called a "Major Tom.")
But today, we see in the morning papers that the British -- hail Brittania! -- have built a bicycle with an "onboard refrigerator."
Combining energy from the sun, wind and the cyclist's legwork, the bike can power an onboard refrigerator that will dispense ice-cold bottles of water for the rider alongside other energy saving devices.
Heh heh. "Ice-cold bottles of water." Yeah right.
Warm water has never been a really widespread point of pain for cyclists. But warm beer? That's a significant worldwide plague.
