A donkey is not an ass, exactly

We've drastically cut back our bloviating on the subject of doping. Not so over at the Daily Peloton, where a little donnybrook has broken out between two doctors on the subject of EPO. The topic is how much faster dope will make a rider go, and the specimen in question is Bjarne Riis.

But what caught our eye was this hilarious quote from Max Sciandri, which we'd never heard until now:

On talent and training alone it would be hard to see how Riis could have achieved the results he did. EPO does seem to have turned the “donkey into a racehorse.” Max Sciandri put it in perspective when he said in 1993 “Jesus… beaten by a guy like Riis!”
